A couple of years ago my partner introduced me to the seaside resort town of Canet-en-Roussillon. Our reason for going there was to deal with some family business so I was expecting to go, do what we needed to do, and that would be it. But something happened whilst we were out there and I fell in love with the place.
Canet-en-Roussillon is a moderately sized seaside resort town in the French Catalan region, a few kilometres due east of Perpignan. It is bordered to the east by the Mediterranean, to the north by the River Têt, and to the south-west by a large ‘etang’, a salt water lake colonised by flamingos. The town has a large residential area, several kilometres of unspoiled beaches, restaurants and night-life, a business and commercial area, and good links to all the neighbouring towns. But what really caught my attention was how unspoiled and historic the older end of the town has remained.
I have been posting photos from my visits to Canet on my Instagram feed for the last couple of years, but I thought it was time to create a blog so I can say more and be a bit more creative and individual about what I am sharing. So here it is.
